BRINDISI – The first edition of the “Canale Reale Green Festival” is underway, a program of free events that will take place from 27 May to 2 June in the province of Brindisi, dedicated to the most important Salento watercourse that flows into the reserve area natural of Torre Guaceto. The press conference to present the festival will be held on Monday 27 May at 11:00 in Brindisi, in the Provincial Representative Hall (via Annibale de Leo, 3).

The “Canale Reale Green Festival” represents the opportunity to present and promote the Canale Reale River Contract, signed by multiple local public and private entities, with the aim of improving the quality of its waters, redeveloping the territory that is part of the its basin and to reconcile public and private interests.

Planned initiatives, events, experiential activities, visits to architectural and archaeological heritage, guided tours of local companies, walking excursions along the canal and many dissemination activities. In particular, there will be seven events dedicated to schools and 13 open to the public. An opportunity to spread knowledge and awareness and to stimulate new protection actions towards the Canale Reale basin.

The other entities that independently organized the scheduled events are the Municipalities involved, the Puglia Water Authority, the Puglia Aqueduct, the Cnr Water Research Institute (Irsa-Cnr), the Euro-Mediterranean Biomedical Scientific Institute (Isbem) and the Tenuta Argiano agricultural company. Most of the events will require reservations and, via the pages indicated below, the public will be able to receive updates on the festival and the water resilience campaign, as well as book for the events at this link and on the dedicated Facebook page .

The Canale Reale Green Festival has also been admitted as a highlighted partner event of the Eu Green Week 2024 (organised by the Directorate General of the European Commission) which will take place from 29 May to 1 September 2024: this year the Eu Green Week will have as its theme “Towards a water resilient Europe” because the European Commission wants to collect contributions regarding what the European Union would need to become, from today and for the future, more water resilient. The Festival will therefore have visibility at a European level also through this site.
