‘Tomorrow’, the short film from ‘De Pace’ of Lecce to remember that safety at work begins ‘today’

Is titled ‘Tomorrow‘ the short film made by the students of the ‘Cultural and Entertainment Services – Audiovisual’ address of the IIS ‘Antonietta de Pace’ of Lecce on the topic of prevention of accidents at work and safety culture, a topic that has never been felt as a social necessity in the aftermath of the many unrelated deaths.

Yes, ‘tomorrow’. Because no one ever stopped to think about what happens ‘the day after’ in families touched first and then destroyed by the tragedy of a loved one who loses their life on a construction site. No one wonders about the silence of that voice that is no longer heard, of that empty place at the table, of that photograph taken with the absence of those who filled our lives until the day before.

What happens in the aftermath of a tragedy? Or does it all end with public mourning? Or does it all end in the speeches read at the funeral with a voice broken by emotion? And who talks about lost everyday life? So the De Pace students tried, accepting the invitation ofInail – Regional Directorate for Puglia and of the Puglia Region – Department of Health Promotion -, in collaboration with the Regional School Office for Puglia, to create an audiovisual or theatrical product in the 2023/2024 school year to frame a social problem of incredible relevance.

The competition project is entitled “From stage to reality: @ prevention school” and is aimed at promoting a culture of safety, at home, at school and in the workplace.

The aim of the initiative is to bring Apulian secondary school students closer to the world of work by encouraging and strengthening the culture of prevention and safety at work in the younger generations through theatrical and cinematographic language.

The project-competition, intended for secondary schools in Puglia, was developed through a training/information path that combined specific contents on Health and Safety at Work with those of theater and cinema and concluded with a competition for short films and for student-produced theater scripts.

The soundtrack, entirely rewritten by the ‘De Pace’ students to the tune of Tomorrow, the song that the Italian artists wanted to dedicate to Abruzzo after the tragic earthquake to raise funds for displaced people (song sung, among others by Giuliano Sangiorgi, Ligabue, Cesare Cremonini, Claudio Baglioni, Gianna Nannini, Carmen Consoli, Giorgia , Laura Pausini, Caterina Caselli, Dolcenera, Elisa) seems to be written specifically. Because we are talking about a family earthquake, a shock that shocks families and prevents them from returning to the life they deserved to continue. A warning to the institutions to do more, to continue the battle on safety culture. At work and beyond.
