L’AQUILA – On the occasion of World Biodiversity Day, announced by the United Nations to celebrate the richness of life on our planet, the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park Authority and the Carabinieri Biodiversity Department of L’Aquila yesterday organized the “Biodiversity day to discover birdlife” inside the Campotosto Lake Nature Reserve, in the heart of the Park.

On this occasion, the 3rd section classes participated. B, 3 sec. C and 4 sec. And from the Liceo Scientifico “M. Delfico” of Teramo for an experiential internship on the capture and ringing of birds for scientific purposes.

The aim of the initiative was to raise awareness among new generations of the protection and conservation of environmental matrices, resources of extraordinary exceptionality for our Protected Area, handed down by our fathers as a heritage of inestimable value to be preserved for our children.

“A heartfelt thanks goes to the Carabinieri Biodiversity Department of L’Aquila for the protection and protection action usefully carried out as well as for the essential technical-scientific support that it has provided for over fifteen years for the monitoring of the avifauna of the highest ornithological stations of the Apennines”, states the President of the Park, lawyer. Thomas Navarra, “Essential presence for the entire scientific community with reference to the study of the effects of climate change on bird populations in high altitude environments”.
