“During the electoral campaign we talk about many topics, but even in Cesena there are some priorities that cannot become such only close to the call to the polls”. strata” around via Dismano (formerly Arrigoni). “It all dates back to September 2022 – recalls the civic list – when, after an inspection by Arpae near the mineral oil depot of a company in via Dismano, a critical situation emerged due of the hydrocarbon spill. In May 2023, Arpae itself revoked the Prefectural authorization for the commercial mineral oil storage depot located in via Dismano and, this year, an ordinance ordered the stop of water withdrawals. for all wells up to a depth of 35 meters for domestic or irrigation purposes located within a rather large perimeter of the ‘ex Arrigoni’ area. The explanation is alarming: those substances are ‘extremely dangerous for human health’. The contamination was then also confirmed by the AUSL and, at that point, a project was developed for the contaminated land with the reclamation of 43 m2 to a depth of 50 centimetres”.

“The analyzes carried out by the relevant bodies – adds Cesena Siamo Noi – have highlighted the need to adopt immediate measures for the reclamation of aquifers, whenever possible, in order to protect the environment and the health of living beings”. “Preserving our territory – reminds CSN – is of primary importance, in particular water which is a necessary and irreplaceable good. What is disturbing, in addition to the fact itself, is the silence that has fallen on the matter, so much so that – to date – no one knows exactly whether or not there is a situation of real danger. The impact on the aquifers due to dispersion from hydrocarbons is a threat that must not be underestimated, also considering the fact that, in that area, there are the extraction wells of companies for the processing of fruit and vegetables”.

Cesena Siamo Noi presented a question to the city council on the subject, to which the environmental councilor responded by ‘calming’ public opinion on the specific case. According to the civic list, however, some doubts remain: “No one knows, for example, whether or not a groundwater reclamation project exists on the land identified in the perimeter and, if it exists, to whom it has been entrusted; just as it would be interesting to know how long hydrocarbon pollution will compromise the water from the wells. Finally – concludes Cesena Noi Noi – we would like to know if the citizens who own regular wells have been notified with specific information notices of the state of danger connected to the withdrawal and use of water (there are 7 wells) and for the non-regular ones how has been proceeded ”.
