Terni: ‘Acciaio’, the national swimming meeting, returns to the Clt

At the Terni workers’ club, preparations are underway for the third edition of ‘Acciaio’, the national swimming meeting organized by the Terni workers’ club with the support of Arvedi Ast, scheduled from 31 May to 2 June in the Olympic swimming pool in via Muratori.

Numbers growing compared to the last edition, with 57 participating companies and 1,158 athletes competing for a total of around 3,700 competitions. The regions of Italy represented will be 10: Abruzzo, Emilia Romagna, Lazio, Lombardy, Marche, Umbria, Piedmont, Sardinia, Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige. Among the clubs there will be no shortage of national queens of recent years such as Circolo Aniene, Aurelia swimming, Rane Rosse as well as historic teams such as Olgiata, Vis Sauro Nuoto and Stelle Marine. The program includes all the races: from the 50, 100, 200 of each style, to the 200 and 400 medley, 400 freestyle, 800 freestyle for women and men and 1,500 for men and women. For each competition there will be heats divided by admission times, with the last one seeing the athletes with the best times at the start.

On the final day of the meeting, Sunday 2 June, the Australiana will take place, a particular elimination race where the first 8 athletes of both the men’s and women’s 100 freestyle will participate: a very demanding test both physically and mentally for the athletes, but also very suggestive and exciting for the public to follow. Among those present there will be prominent Italian swimming athletes, such as Martina Cenci, Benedetta Scalise, Valeria Di Giacomoantonio, Andrea Magri, Federico Iannicca, Lorenzo Moriggi, Francesco Caroletta and Daniele Momoni. The meeting will take place in the morning from 9am to 1pm and in the afternoon from 3pm to 7pm. The event has free admission.
