Brugnotto, Vicenza: «We need concrete closeness to flood victims»

“Last Sunday I was deeply struck by seeing the damage that the water bombs of recent days have caused to many families in our diocese,” declared the bishop of Vicenza, Giuliano Brugnotto. «I saw a lot of concrete solidarity from many people. I expressed my closeness and that of the diocese, I was also able to confirm the availability of Caritas Ambrosiana to lend some dryers, but I thought more should be done. We need to be close in a concrete way to the people who have lost everything and reactivate that good closeness that has always characterized our territory».

The Vicenza area was in fact heavily affected by multiple flood phenomena in a few days. Those who suffer the most are the communities of Castelnovo di Isola Vicentina, Bad And Monte di Malowhere there are hundreds of flooded houses.

To support the families from these and other places hit by bad weatherthe Diocese of Vicenza has decided to hold one extraordinary collection of donationson the occasion of Holy Masses next weekend.

The amount collected will be used by Caritas Diocesan Vicenzaresponsible for materially taking care of aid for families who are in a state of need due to this calamity.

Beyond what will be collected during the Holy Masses, it is already possible to make donations to the Diakonia onlus Association (managing body of Caritas Diocesana Vicentina services), specifying the reason “Flood in the Vicenza area”:

  • by bank check or bank draft;
  • payment to postal account no. 29146784;
  • bank transfer to the Iban account IT96L0839911801000000131962 made out to Associazione Diakonia Onlus at Banca delle Terre Venete – Vicenza branch.

Deduction pursuant to art. 83, c. 1 of Legislative Decree 117/2017 (30% up to 30,000 euros). The deduction is allowed only if the payment is tracked (via banks, post offices or other tracked payment systems).

Attention: to allow the Diakonia onlus Association to communicate the donation received to the Revenue Agency (fulfilment required for pre-compiled tax returns), we ask you to provide the following tax data: surname, name, tax code and address of the donor, by writing an email to [email protected].
