L’Aquila’s historic homes are opening again

L’AQUILA – Twelve private monuments in the historic center which, on Sunday 26 May, will open free of charge to the public for the fourteenth edition of the national day of historic homes.

Among the novelties of this year, the opening of Palazzo Margherita, the Casino delle delizie Branconio and the Le Cancelle shops, originally located in Piazza Duomo, then moved behind the church of the Anime Sante to make room for what was , until the earthquake, the post office building.

The initiative, organized in the city by Adsi Abruzzo and the Carispaq Foundation in collaboration with the Municipality, was presented to the Carispaq Foundation by the president Domenico Taglieri and the vice president Pierluigi Panunzi, by the tourism councilor of the Municipality of L’Aquila Ersilia Lancia and by the vice-president of Adsi Abruzzo Ludovico Vannicelli Casoni.

“The Carispaq Foundation, as a member of the Italian Historic Houses Association, wanted to contribute again this year to the organization of the annual Adsi National Day – declared the President of the Carispaq Foundation Domenico Taglieri – with the initiative that opens the doors to the courtyards of ten historic buildings, an eighteenth-century Oratory and a contemporary art foundation in L’Aquila, but also with some innovations such as the collaboration with the Municipality of L’Aquila which has allowed the extraordinary opening of its headquarters in Palazzo Margherita recently reopened after the post-earthquake restoration. Furthermore, this year we have committed ourselves to organizing this day with particular attention to the little ones in the belief that beauty education must be a priority for the growth of future generations. The National ADSI Day is an important moment to raise awareness of the potential of L’Aquila and its territory for the valorisation of cultural assets that can be a driving force for growth and socio-economic development”.

The monuments participating in the national day will be open to visitors from 10.00 to 13.00 and from 15.00 to 18.00. Furthermore, there are two guided tours for the little ones, organized in collaboration with the ‘Mame per L’Aquila’ association with departure at 10.30 and 15.00 in Viale delle Medaglie d’Oro and reservations required at ‘WelcomeAq’.
