After almost a century of life, the former Angelini distillery in Trani goes down and the bell tower of the cathedral and the castle emerge. For the moment only the tower remains, the demolition of which is being examined by the Superintendency.

The demolition falls within the scope of the Costa Nord project financed with PNRR funds for a total of 18 million euros.

The redevelopment works on the western coast of the city affect the vast enclosed urban space of 37,000 square meters in total. In the intervention area there are many abandoned warehouses and industrial plants, which have been in a state of complete abandonment for decades.

The program involves the enhancement of the western seafront through the creation of an equipped urban park, new parking areas, the creation of co-housing and social housing. The planned housing units will be 54 of which 42 (from 45 to 60 square metres) located in 3 buildings and 12 (of 45 square metres) through the building recovery of the former slaughterhouse area.

The demolition by Cetola SPA (which was awarded the contract) was carefully followed by the mayor Amedeo Bottaro and the municipal administrators.

The industrial plant has been abandoned for over twenty years and was burdened (by sentence of the court of Trani) with the obligation of decommissioning starting from 1993. The industrial plant extends over an area of 18,500 square meters and has a consistency of approximately 60,000 cubic meters of artefacts.
