The Taranto Eco Forum 2024, a two-day event (23 and 24 May) dedicated to change, is currently taking place at the headquarters of the Ionian Department in Legal and Economic Systems of the Mediterranean.

An organic event, “open to the territory and measured on the needs of those entities that are planning and operating in the vast ecosystems of the environment and innovation. Many prestigious speakers gathered for an in-depth reflection on highly topical issues including decarbonisation, energy transition, sustainability, bioremediation and start-ups according to a program defined by the Scientific Technical Committee chaired by Professor Vito Felice Uricchio, Extraordinary Commissioner for land reclamation. But the Taranto Eco Forum also wants to be an opportunity to start developing projects for the city of Taranto too,
aiming at the development of a new model based on the principles of the “Just Transition”.
Opening the second edition of the event were the organizers Patrick Poggi, president of Eurota ETS, and Silvia Paparella, delegate councilor of Ferrara Expo and general manager of RemTech Expo. Then a series of interventions, including those of Giuseppe Vadalà, Brigadier General of the Carabinieri, sole commissioner for the implementation of the interventions necessary for the adaptation of the legislation on illegal landfills present on the national territory; Vito Felice Uricchio, Extraordinary Commissioner for the reclamation and redevelopment of Taranto, Vincenzo Montanaro, Southern Maritime Interregional Commander of the Navy, Edoardo Rixi (remotely), Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Jacopo Morrone (remotely), President of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into illicit activities connected to the waste cycle and other environmental and agri-food offences; Sergio Prete, President of the Port Authority of Taranto, Désirée Petrosillo, Councilor for Public Education, University and School Buildings of the Municipality of Taranto Leonardo Giangrande, President of Confcommercio Taranto. During the first day of the Taranto Eco Forum, there will also be round tables on renewable energy, sustainable mobility, corporate social responsibility, bioremediation, reclamation and waste valorisation.
