From May 28th Crotone will be colored with street art

Gulìa Urbana & Municipality of Crotone present: KRIU – KRotone Identità Urbane. From 28 May to 6 June a new urban art project involving international street artists in the streets of the city of Crotone.

Gulìa Urbana, the over ten-year project conceived and developed by the Rublanum collective, which aims to regenerate the living fabric of the Calabrian territory through public art, arrives in the city of Crotone. From Tuesday 28 May – and until Thursday 6 June – KRIU – KRotone Identità Urbane kicks off, a project strongly supported by the municipal administration of the Pythagorean capital, which aims to develop and enhance the urban and social fabric of the city through the artistic movement most innovative of the 21st century: Street-Art. KRIU aims to transform the streets of Crotone into a vibrant open-air museum, promoting urban culture and contemporary art, with a project that will develop over three years.

For this first edition the city is preparing to host 4 international artists: Aches (Ireland), Kitsune (Belgium), Kraser (Spain), Piet Rodriguez (Belgium).

The artists will demonstrate great talent and sensitivity, creating works that fit perfectly into the urban context and at the same time are consistent with the traditions and history of the city. The areas identified for the construction of the works are the Gesù neighborhood and the “300 accommodation” area, between via Giuseppe di Vittorio and via Enrico Mastracchi.

Alongside street-art, KRIU also plans other collateral activities: on the evening of Friday 31 May, at Piazza dell’Immacolata, a presentation talk of the artists involved in the project is scheduled and, to follow, the performance of the Calabrian artist Daniel Cundari accompanied by the musician Daniele Fabio; the “Back To The Style” project on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd June, in which numerous local artists will unleash their creativity and style on the wall in Via Miscello Da Ripe.
