Cat Killed in Forlì: The Owner’s Alarm

An episode of gratuitous violence that affects anyone who has a home or a pet. We often ask ourselves the reason for senseless and cruel gestures, a question that is destined to remain unanswered even in the latest case, which happened to the Romiti family. One of the many who often go unnoticed is a relative of a resident who tells the story. “They killed my parents’ cat by shooting it in the stomach.” The complaint comes from Eugenio Genesi, owner of the San Martino in Strada pharmacy, and concerns an episode happened on Monday afternoon in the Romiti district, in the town center between the church and the sports hall.

“Umberto, my parents’ cat who was two years old, always went out during the day and then came back in the evening – explains Genesi -. On Monday my father saw him return late in the evening in serious condition after he had been away from home for many hours. He probably took shelter somewhere, since it was raining. We immediately took him to the vet thinking that he had been bitten by a dog given the signs he had on his body but instead, after a surgical operation, a bullet fired from a pistol or air rifle was extracted from his lower abdomen. Unfortunately, he died the morning after hospitalization.”

A serious episode which unfortunately is only the latest in a long series of similar situations which have occurred in Forlì. “On my personal Instagram page I wanted to report the incident, because I believe it unacceptable that in a neighborhood in the center of the city there could be people who shoot animals. In a short time I received many certificates of solidarity from people who have experienced similar situations. In fact, they have written to me about similar events or about poisoned meatballs being placed in the stalls on purpose: I believe that all this must stop because animals too must live in safety.”

Genesi reported the incident to the police and now hopes to find the culprit. “I realize that it will be very difficult to trace those who shot my parents’ cat, but we have nevertheless decided to follow all possible paths to understand who committed this crazy act. I’m sorry that such people almost always go unpunished.”
