CREMONA – The centre-right also adds important reflections on the ‘Manifesto for administrative elections’ that the Association of Industrialists presented a few days ago in view of the electoral competition for the office of mayor of Cremona scheduled for next 8 and 9 June. «It’s about – he observes Alessandro Portesani candidate for the center-right — of a document of absolute importance. And I say this because many of the 12 points that compose it reflect, almost mirror-like, what our government program presented at the beginning of this electoral campaign is.. A figure that certifies how our political coalition has hit the mark on the needs of the local productive and economic world. There are six perfectly coincident points starting from the role of the capital municipality. We offer concrete proposals for ‘Great Cremona’, an urban agglomeration of around one hundred thousand inhabitants, maintaining the autonomy and number of current local authorities” (click here for the 12 points of the Industrial Association).

And Portesani elaborates on the idea: «Immediate establishment of a permanent meeting and coordination table with the mayors of Crema and Casalmaggiore; creation of the ‘District Citizenship’ for the management of services in the district, with particular reference to social ones; establishment of the Cremonese Homogeneous Area; sharing the one-stop shop for businesses”.

Another fundamental chapter is that of infrastructure that «they are a driving force for development. The centre-right – explains Portesani – is in favor of the construction of the Cremona-Mantua motorway, moving the center of gravity of Lombardy’s socio-economic development to the south, bringing it closer to Cremona. As regards the doubling of the Paullese, we will insist, until exhaustion, with the Region to carry out the project. We will monitor the works of the railway doubling of the Mantua–Cremona–Codogno line, as well as the Cremona-Crema-Treviglio line. As regards the Cremona ring road, in its extra-urban sections, we will put pressure on the ministry for a quick passage under Anas and to obtain more streamlined management of the sections instead of municipal competence”.

And the centre-right candidate specifies the points of contact also with regards to the ‘attractive city’ chapter of the industrialists’ manifesto: «We have projects for Piazza Roma with the recovery of the ‘montagnole’ section, caretaker’s house, pagoda and playground with the aim of including recreational, hospitality or commercial activities; Piazza del Comune the restoration of the arches of the municipal building and general maintenance of the paving; Piazza Stradivari, redesign of lighting and urban greenery (rethinking a garden); Piazza della Pace, redevelopment of furniture, flooring and lighting; Federico II courtyard, strengthening of lighting and insertion of urban greenery; redesign of the central urban market aiming for quality. And again: Viale Po redevelopment to restore authority to the entrance to the city; insertion and maintenance of urban greenery on Corso Campi, Corso Garibaldi and Piazza S. Agata; cycle path review of dangerous sections and redevelopment of the Via Mantova area. All included in a long-term programmatic instrument.”

All eyes also on the theme of the city fair: «We have clear ideas – continues Portesani – CremonaFiere Spa is one of the assets of our territory capable of attracting visitors from outside the region and internationally. Our proposals are: very strong support from the Municipality, organization of large concerts in the covered structure, planning of events in the city so as to also create an ‘fuori salon’, enhanced spaces to transform it into a real Congress Center and finally the appointment of a councilor ad hoc for relations with Cremonafiere”.

Lastly, Portesani touches on the question of production clusters in the area: «Agri-food, steel, cosmetics and mechanics are the four main sectors of the companies. We want to work so that the city can become the headquarters of the new Agrifood Cluster (now located in Lodi) precisely to relaunch the research and innovation action with a strong involvement of companies and universities in our territory. Cremona must coordinate the municipalities to acquire adequate infrastructure, guarantee the maintenance of employment and develop further attractiveness for foreign investors”.
