LUCCA – Everything is ready in the city for the first dates of the Lucca Summer Festival. The 2024 edition is already sold out, with a program of high artistic level. On June 2, a blues-rock legend, the guitarist, is expected on the stage of the historic walls Eric Clapton.

This will be the only Italian date of his world tour. Old and new generations of rock lovers will participate for an extraordinary evening. The English guitarist has been absent from Lucca for 18 years. On the program are the hits of a long career which saw him at the helm of legendary bands such as Cream, Derek and The Dominos and Yardbirds. The following weekend, 8 and 9 June, the singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran will perform with the ‘+ – = ÷ X Tour’ (The Mathematics Tour).

This will be followed, among others, by Geolier (5 July), The Smashing Pumpkins, special guest Tom Morello (July 6), Rod Stewart (July 7), Calcutta (11 July), Lenny Kravitz (July 12), Diana Krall (15th of July), John Fogerty (July 16), Mika (July 19), Duran Duran (21 and 23 July), Toto more Marcus Miller (July 24), Gazelles (July 26) (Go to the entire program).

In recent days the Municipality of Lucca has granted a contribution of 130 thousand euros for the festival, one of the most appreciated in Italy and Europe, organized by Mimmo D’Alessandro. “The Lucca Summer Festival”, says the resolution, “has promoted the name of the city of Lucca in the world with significant promotional effects, also the subject of specific studies and research, assuming an important role in the international panorama of live events”. There are also “significant economic effects generated every year by the Lucca Summer Festival not only in the Lucca area, but also throughout the regional territory”. A few months ago the city council approved a framework agreement to link the city to the Lucca Summer Festival until 2028.
