This afternoon, at the headquarters of the Regional Education Department, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the AIGA – Italian Young Lawyers Association – sections of Sicily (Palermo, Agrigento, Termini Imerese, Trapani, Marsala, Sciacca, Caltanissetta, Enna, Gela, Patti, Barcellona PG, Catania, Caltagirone, Ragusa, Siracusa, Messina), the Regional School Office for Sicily, and the Regional Department for Education and Vocational Training for the implementation of joint actions aimed at promoting and encouraging the implementation of activities linked to school training courses and the training offer that each school prepares, providing for the carrying out of specific modules on the topics of citizenship education and legality. Among the common actions identified by the agreement, there is the development of skills in the field of active and democratic citizenship through the enhancement of intercultural and peace education, respect for differences, dialogue between cultures and the strengthening of knowledge in legal and economic-financial matters. Satisfaction is expressed by the lawyers Nino Musacchia, president of the Aiga Palermo section, and Nelli Scilabra, Aiga national councilor of the Palermo section, who declare: “As a section we conceived and wanted this protocol, to help bring the spirit of the legal profession and the legality in Sicilian schools”.

Likewise the presidents of the Aiga sections of the Sicilian Region, Sonia Sinaguglia, Alessandra Alaimo, Paolo Viscò, Giovannella Licari, Vincenzo Parinisi, Giuliana Scaletta, Gianmarco Davide Pace, Pierangelo Vasile, Andrea Ravidà, Marco Galati, Emanuele Alberghina, Luigi Stamilla, Silvia Margherita, Alessio Mento and Fabrizio Ribaudo, declare: “we are certain that our professionalism put at the service of the school and young people will contribute to the completion of the virtuous path of legality that all teachers put into practice every day in our schools”.

“An agreement – ​​says the councilor for Education and Vocational Training, Mimmo Turano – which brings together, according to the virtuous logic of the interinstitutional agreement open to sector organisations, energies capable of guaranteeing widespread action to build awareness in our young people, acting at multiple levels, that of the students and that of the teachers, in terms of knowledge, orientation and training”.

“The collaboration with the Aiga sections of Sicily will make a significant contribution to education on legality, the training of teachers and new projects for schools”, says the Director of USR Sicily Giuseppe Pierro.
