Asti invaded by color and positivity, Sunday 26 May with the National Red Nose Day which will be held in Piazza Alfieri – pedestrian area – from 10am to 7pmto “Bring a smile to life”, even when there are few smiles, but the aim of the association is precisely to bring a few moments of joy to hospital wards.

The Arte del Sorriso association, in Asti, was born at the beginning of 2005, when the first patients entered the new Cardinal G. Massaia Hospital. For those who don’t know them yet, it’s a clown therapy association, which represents a colorful piece of that wonderful design that is VIP Italia “Let’s Live Positively”.

“Being a clown volunteer is an experience that deeply touches those who are part of it and influences their daily lives, their way of being and thinking. Wonderful relationships are created between people, in an overwhelming vortex of laughter and emotions”they say in association, but don’t think that you can improvise.

To become a clown, in fact, it is necessary to participate in a full-fledged training course, where the volunteer acquires the necessary characteristics to empathize with the patient and learns the tricks of the trade. The clowns every Saturday afternoon armed with red noses and shirts, they show up at the Cardinal Massaia Hospital where they inflate balloons, improvise circus or magic shows, fill the paediatrics and gynecology departments with energy, warmth and smiles.

The data updated to 2024, speak of 72 VIP Associations federated in VIP Italia ODV and beyond 4200 active clown volunteers serving in over 200 facilities between hospitals and social-healthcare facilities in Italy.

The Asti day in Piazza Alfieri, with around fifty clowns, will be held from 10am to 7pm with workshops and various activities: games, face painting and 4.30pm great magic show. You will also be able to buy lottery tickets to help the “Claun” carry out their projects. Draw on June 27th.
