ANCONA – During the city council meeting on May 22nd, it was discussed and approved unanimously the motion presented by the Councillor Francesco Andreani (Let’s start again from young people) having as its object the creation of a reuse center in the city of Ancona. Motion which, in content, was already voted unanimously in 2018 (therefore two council meetings ago) following an initiative by councilors Andrea Quattrini, Daniela Diomedi, Francesco Prosperi and Maria Ausilia Gambacorta.

«We wanted to present a motion in this regard – states the municipal councilor Francesco Andreani – because Let’s start again with young people is very sensitive to respect for the environment and wants to try to make Ancona a city that pays attention to these issues. Unfortunately, over the years, the city has lagged a little behind on this front considering that, in the province of Ancona alone, there are 11 reuse centers, none of which are in our municipality. I am happy with the approval of the motion, it is important that the city of Ancona works to encourage social solidarity and nurture the culture of reuse and not waste.”

The motion asks the Mayor and the competent councilors to create a Reuse Center near one of the two CentrAmbiente, therefore either at Palombare or at Posatora; which, in fact, would be a further service of the Municipality. The usefulness of reuse center is to counter and overcome the “throwaway” culture, support the spread of a culture of reuse of goods based on principles of environmental protection and social solidarity, promote the reuse and reuse of used goods, prolonging their life cycle in order to reduce the amount of waste produced. The project aims to raise citizens’ awareness not to waste and to share what they no longer use and to put into practice a true circular economy action.
