The Theater of the Winds kicks off the 2024 summer tour in urban spaces with shows from the repertoire, and with something new. In fact, at the center of this new season isthe Don chisciotte, the new production which will be premiered in Boom, Belgium on Saturday 26 May, as part of the Theater aan Twater festival and which we will tell you about soon with a special on the occasion of the Italian premiere at Concentrico Festival (Carpi, 8 June).

The new Don Quixote proposes a rereading of Cervantes’ classic through the precise poetics of the Theater of the Winds, which highlights the need for choral action in our contemporaneity. To reawaken individual power, encouraging everyone to fight injustices, to marvel and to take care of fragilities. As in many works by the Modena company, the use of stilts, live music and theatrical machines transforms the urban space into a dreamlike journey, an invitation to rediscover one’s desires and not to give up in the face of evil, keeping an open gaze towards the future.

The show was born in co-production with Solares Foundation of the Arts Teatro delle Briciole and with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Emilia-Romagna Region and Caracò. Created, directed and dramatized by Stefano Tea, with lyrics by Azzurra D’Agostino and translation of Johanna Bishop. In the cast: Alessandro Berardi, Oxana Casolari, Francesca Figini, Davide Filippi, Esther Grigoli, Alice Mascolo, Antonio Santangelo, Christian Sidoti, Cesare Trebeschi And Francesco Valli. The music is composed by Igino L. Caselgrandi, Pietro Colliva, Diego Lancellotti And Nicola Raccanelliwith theatrical machines by Dino Serra, in collaboration with Paolo Romanini, Emanuela Savi And Chiara Pettenati. The costumes and sets are by Maria Scarano – Stardust Atelier.

As for the Boom stage, also in Timinsoara (21, 22 May) where the historic Penthesilea, the Teatro dei Venti organized workshops for artists and meetings with the public and sector operators, to promote the engagement and active participation of local communities. These activities are carried out in partnership with the ATER Foundation, the host festivals and the Italian Cultural Institutes of Bucharest and Brussels.
