The initiatives in the field of regional museums continue with “Museum Friend”. Saturday 25 May, at 5.00 pm, at the Museum of Life in Arezzo (Mu.Vi), which is located in the locality. Santa Flora Torrita 19/d, will take placeThe event that changed life on the planet!“.

It will be possible to relive a fascinating story of 113 Million. It will begin with the presentation of a rare and very faithful car copy of the small dinosaur Ciroconsidered by some to be “the most famous in the world” and found in Italy, compared with a tooth belonging to a specimen of the equally well-known Tyrannosaurus Rex, and will then continue with the original remains of the meteorite which 66 million years ago decreed their extinction and that of all the dinosaurs.

It will in fact be exhibited a rock sample with traces of extraterrestrial iridium from the Chicxulub meteorite which, due to the terrifying impact on the earth’s crust, was disseminated throughout the planet.

This tragic event marked a sudden climate change on Earth and an epochal turning point in evolution, leaving room for small mammals which, over millions of years, gave life to hominids, which, passing through the australopithecines (in this regard, it will be shown the faithful reproduction of the skull of Lucythe famous hominid who fascinated the world in 1974), have finally given rise to theHomo Sapiens. At the Mu.Vi there is also a reproduction of the skull of the Elm Manbelonging to a Sapiens of the Bronze Age found 500 meters from the headquarters of our Museum.

This will then be followed by a debate on our planet, its fragilities, and a short film summarizing the evolution of the Earth, including the most important mass extinctions.

Emotions

The meeting on Saturday 25 May will be enriched by live connections with:

  • “Meteorite” Museum in Mexico, located in Yucatan in the center of the crater caused by the meteorite impact;
  • Museum of “Flesh Dinosaurs” in Gubbio near the site where last April 8th we sampled the rocks with extraterrestrial Iridium;
  • Museum and Florentine Institute of Prehistory where the original Olmo skull and other interesting finds are preserved.

It will then be time to inaugurate the showcases relating to the donation of minerals from the Baldassarri family and the other exhibition spaces of the Mu.Vi.

The evening will end in room of the Etruscan Convivio to toast with a fantastic Etruscan wine, produced as 2500 years ago and offered by Mu.Vi.

Finally, upon request, a visit to the external area of the Mu.Vi will be possible. with biopark (biodiversity), biolake and other installations.
