PERUGIA – Thirty years old, from Perugia. A courtroom as the last port of call after a turbulent weekend. Another, perhaps yet another. Because the story of wounds due to a violent blow to the side of the bed lasted a few hours: those wounds, on the body of the girl he has been with for three years, are the result of the violence of a crazy Saturday night. The actual alert goes off around three o’clock on Sunday morning, when the young man ends up in handcuffs after the arrival of the flying squad called, according to what we learn, directly by the medical staff who rescued the girl because the explanation of the injuries sustained it was evidently very unconvincing.
The young man was thus arrested, and yesterday he appeared before the judge for the immediate trial. What was reconstructed during the hearing went towards identifying a context of violence that periodically marked the relationship between the two young people.
First of all, an intervention by the police also emerged over the previous weekend, and again due to a tense situation that suddenly exploded. “I lost my job, I can’t pay the bills” was the boy’s defense before judge Giuseppe Narducci. A state of affairs which, the young man claims, would be the cause of peaks of stress which would have led him to raise his voice on some occasions.
It’s a shame that, again during the hearing, other facts of violence emerged which were told and denounced by the young partner and which in fact had always characterized their relationship. As early as 2021, according to what emerged, with even an attempt on his part to disfigure her with boiling water in 2022.
In short, a particularly difficult and compromised situation which once again brings to attention the issue of violence against women, particularly in a domestic context.
THE OTHER EMERGENCY
Just consider how in Perugia alone, over the weekend just ended, in addition to the one that triggered the arrest of the boy, the police had to intervene due to another very violent domestic dispute with equally serious consequences.
In this case we are talking about a South American couple, also in this case in their early thirties, with her ending up in hospital again in the night between Saturday and Sunday due to the beatings she received from her boyfriend. Once on site, the officers reached the apartment in question and, after a few attempts, managed to gain access and found that a violent attack against a woman had just taken place. The police, after having accompanied the man – an Ecuadorian citizen, born in 1992, burdened by police records and in a state of alteration due to the abuse of alcoholic substances – to the police station, rescued the victim who had obvious head injuries.
Once the intervention of the 118 staff was requested, the police listened to the woman who reported that she had had an argument due to jealousy with her partner – who had forced his way into the apartment – at the height of which this the last one had attacked and beaten her violently. The prognosis is 30 days.
The 32-year-old was arrested for the crimes of personal injury and housebreaking and held under house arrest, awaiting the validation hearing.
