Will be Uri Caine to close the sixth edition of Piano City Pordenone, the piano festival that floods the Friulian city with live music for three days, with a concert entitled “Change” which takes up the song by Uri Caine included in the album The Passion of Octavius Catto, work dedicated to Octavius ​​Catto, activist for African-American civil rights, murdered in Philadelphia in 1871.

Piano City Pordenone therefore begins to reveal the program for the next edition, announcing the event that will seal the 3 days during which over 80 concerts scheduled in the city will be offered from 21st to 23rd June. The closing appointment is for Sunday June 23 at 9pm in Piazza XX Settembre, with Uri Caine, a musician at the top of contemporary jazz for over 30 years, capable of reinterpreting the sounds of the past with the present, mixing genres and creating a unique, eclectic and always disruptive style.

The closing concert entrusted to the American pianist and jazz musician is the first news which transpires from the program of the 2024 edition of the festival dedicated to the piano, organized by the Piano City Pordenone Committee association.

The festival

The sixth edition of the Piano City Pordenone Festival truly promises to be an event not to be missed for those who love the 88 keys, also thanks to the large number of applications from pianists who have proposed to participate in the festival, over 250 coming from Italy, from the rest from Europe and even further afield, once again characterizing the three days as a celebration that puts the city at the center of international music and that involves, brings together and unites thanks to the notes.

Born from the idea of ​​the German pianist Andreas Kern who created Piano City Berlin in 2010, then exported to various cities in Italy and abroad, Piano City Pordenone is curated by Bruno Cesselli, Lucia Grizzo and Antonella Silvestrini and is organized by the Piano City Committee Pordenone ETS in collaboration with the Municipality of Pordenone, thanks to the support of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and the Friuli Foundation and numerous institutions and private sponsors who have decided to invest in culture as an enhancement of the territory, the community and young talents.

The complete program of Piano City Pordenone 2024 will be officially presented on the morning of Thursday 13 June.
