Summer is approaching and theTrenitalia offer sees the addition of new connections, aimed above all at the main tourist locations of the new country. In addition to the Italian Tourist Trains, which offer new experiences on board restored vintage trains, the network of Frecciarossa, Intercity and regional trains is increasing to allow us to reach our next holiday destination more easily. Let’s find out all the main news.

Trenitalia’s new connections

Trenitalia has launched its own Summer Experience 2024, the summer offer to connect all of Italy with its trains and tourist buses. This year the national network of connections is significantly expanding, especially with an eye to the places most loved by tourists. Let’s start with the Frecce, which offer a vast choice of high-speed trains: with over 270 trips daily, there really is something for every need. In particular, the 8 daily departures between Milan and Reggio Calabriathe 2 daily connections between Venice and Reggio Calabria, the 16 daily Frecce between Rome and Reggio Calabria and up to 13 connections per day between Rome and Puglia.

The offer for the Adriatic coast is then enriched, with 2 additional daily Frecciarossa trains between Milan and Pescara and 2 between Bolzano and Pescara, available only on weekends. They also debut 2 new Frecciargento between Rome and Ravenna, always on weekends. In addition to the Frecce, the increasingly extensive FrecciaLink network deserves attention, the bus connection to reach cities without a high-speed station. It will thus be possible to visit places such as Matera, Assisi, Perugia, Potenza, Pompeii and 5 new locations in Cilento (Acciaroli, Pioppi, Casal Velino Marina, San Marco di Castellabate and Santa Maria di Castellabate). For those who love the mountains, the ArrowLink offers destinations such as Val Gardena, Val di Fassa, Val di Fiemme, Cortina d’Ampezzo and Courmayeur.

Let’s then move on to the Intercity and to European connections: as regards the former, new destinations are added: San Candido, Bardonecchia, Bolzano, San Benedetto del Tronto, Savona, Tropea, Bari and Lecce, in addition to the extension to Milan of the Bologna-Bari and Bologna-Bologna routes. Lecce. For those who want to go abroad, trains Eurocity offer connections from Milan and Venice to Zurich, Lugano and Bellinzona. While the Euronight they reach Germany and Austria, departing from La Spezia, Genoa and Milan. Finally, regional trains are becoming increasingly widespread with more than 1,700 locations served, including 500 tourist destinations.

Italian tourist trains departing

Thanks to its new initiative, Trenitalia is preparing to launch numerous connections aboard vintage trains. These are the Italian Tourist Trains, the program that debuted last winter with the Espresso Cadore, the night journey from Rome Termini to Cortina d’Ampezzo. If the Espresso Cadore has been renewed for a new summer route, running from 25 June to 31 August, there are other interesting news. This is the case ofVersilia espresso, which will leave from Milan in the direction of the Cinque Terre, then continuing towards Pisa and the Versilian beaches. The train will run from August 6th to September 26th. L’Riviera Expresshowever, will start from Milan and head towards Ventimiglia, crossing the Riviera dei Fiori and skirting the French Riviera, from 3 August until the end of September.
