Day for non-violence at Battaglini High School

It was held at Battaglini scientific high school of Taranto, an important event dedicated to raising awareness against gender violence. Present at the meeting was the President of the Stella Maris Association Nicola Melucci, Mauro TatulliShopping Center Manager of the Porte dello Jonio Shopping Center, Gianna Cavallomember of the Equal Opportunities Commission of the Puglia Region, ed Elio Dalto, founder of the post-diploma orientation project “Lo Studente Taranto 2024”. The Prof Patrizia Arzenihead teacher, welcomed the guests.

The centerpiece of the event was the delivery of a booklet composed of the poems of the Battaglini students, participating in the initiative “Let us persevere by choosing non-violence”. Prof. Arzeni expressed gratitude towards the participants, underlining the importance of these meetings in helping young people understand the seriousness of gender violence. She also reiterated the school’s commitment to involving the local area, offering students a broader vision of current society.

Mauro Tatulli thanked the Principal for her collaboration, underlining that the Porte dello Jonio Shopping Center aims to interact with the territoryacting not only as a commercial area but also as an agora for the community.

The Prof Marzia Cuppone of Battaglini thanked the participants and introduced first of all Gianna Cavallo who addressed a message to the students, highlighting the importance of the fight against gender violence and illustrating the commitment of the‘Stella Maris Association in the protection of women. She praised the work of the children in creating the poems, which were collected in the booklet. Among these, the poem “Donna” by Cataldo Gianmarco Zito it was awarded for its particular meaning.

Subsequently Dr. Elio Dalto, organizer of “The Student Taranto 2024” and moderator of the event. Dalto spoke about the importance of communication, the conscious use of social media and the need to combat any form of abuse.

The event ended with the distribution of booklets to students, leaving a strong impact on awareness of the importance of combating gender violence.
