CESV Messina, the 2023 social balance sheet has been published

MESSINA. The 2023 Social Report has been published on the CESV Messina ETS website, a year characterized by the first edition of “EsserCi Festival: The volunteering that exists”, which brought to completion a path started in the previous months and which involved third sector bodies, local and national partner institutions.

But there is not only “Being There” in 2023 of the Volunteer Service Center. And in fact – as the president Santi Mondello declares – «the social report tries to tell everything that has happened but above all it uses the information collected and analyzed to understand how and where to improve, in which areas of intervention, in which organizational processes, in which territorial areas. It is therefore essential that all stakeholders read and evaluate this document which, in integration with other tools, lays the foundations for both the programming and optimization of old and new services. In short, it is a text of great importance for the role played by CESV in promoting the culture of volunteering with the aim of strengthening the presence of volunteers in Third Sector organisations”.

The reference area of the CESV Messina ETS is the Metropolitan City of Messina which has an administratively complex territory, composed of 108 municipalities, with an extension of 3,266.12 square kilometers, populated by 598,811 inhabitants, equal to just over 12% of the Sicilian regional population.

In this territorial context, the presence of voluntary and social promotion organizations and more generally of third sector bodies during 2023 was substantially redetermined in terms of numerical presence, following the entry into force of the single national third sector register sector. Therefore, the official data, while confirming a large presence of non-profit organisations, represent a partial snapshot and in any case destined for further adjustments with the entry into full operation of the Register.

There is a slight increase in the data relating to voluntary organizations (going from 201 in 2022 to 236 in 2023), while those of entities registered in the non-profit organization register are stable (285) which, with the entry into force of the RUNTS, can no longer be access, the increase in social promotion associations is significant (from 347 to 468) due to the emergence during the transmigration phase of the associations affiliated to the APS registered in the national registers and, finally, the so-called generic ETS increase by over 100% ( from 24 to 57). In total, third sector entities in the Metropolitan Area in 2023 were 1046 “against” the 834 of the previous year.

The CESV reaches 2023 with 22 years of activity under its belt, 150 associated bodies and 14 ongoing collaborations with public and private institutions. In 2023 it held 3 member meetings and 10 board meetings.

Its human resources include 6 employees, for whom it has carried out 116 hours of training, 10 consultants and 38 volunteers, who have dedicated a total of 956 hours of volunteering to the Centre.

Over the course of last year, CESV carried out 42 initiatives to promote volunteering, 26 training events and 306 consultancies. It provided 350 information services, 200 graphics and image services, 122 logistics services. And he created and published 8 websites for as many third sector entities. Overall it reached 340 entities and 966 people.

The CESV Messina ETS, through the Local Community Coordinations, has implemented a participatory and sharing platform for programmatic and operational choices which represents a qualifying point of the institution’s extended governance action. The Coordinations include voluntary organizations and Third Sector bodies, including non-associated ones, which, sharing the aims of the CESV, join it to collaborate. The Coordinations (Barcelona Pozzo di Gotto, Capo d’Orlando, Jonio, Milazzo, Mistretta – Tusa, Patti) carried out constant activity during the year and held a total of 11 operational meetings involving 85 third sector entities.

CESV also recorded high approval ratings in 2023. In fact, 80% of those who have used the Centre’s services declare themselves satisfied with an excellent or good rating. And the most popular services are consultancy (74.8%), training (60.7%), information and communication (43%). Followed by: promotion, orientation and territorial animation (28.1%), research and documentation (16.3%), logistics services (14.8%).
