A territorial network for the defense of the marine environment

On the occasion of “European Maritime Day”which is celebrated on May 20th, took place in the ‘Giorgio Bucchioni’ auditorium, the conference “A sea of associations – A territorial network for the defense of the marine environment”, organized by the provincial women’s council. This is the first step of a project outlined by the “Environmental Protection” Area. The Consulta, within the objectives of the UN Agenda 2030, expressed in Italy in the National Strategy for Sustainable Development 2017-2030, has proposed a path that falls within the planet area (Ensuring sustainable management of natural resources, counteracting the loss of biodiversity and protecting environmental and cultural assets for future generations). The path is divided into three steps; first of all the involvement of the Associations that at national and local level are committed to protecting the environment, creating a Network that operates in synergy and continuity with the institutions and bodies in charge; secondly, the creation of a permanent working group that coordinates, promotes and monitors the cleaning interventions of the coastal areas, through a Memorandum of Understanding between the Provincial Women’s Council and the voluntary associations, subsequently involving Institutions, Bodies and Stakeholders who have interests and activities related to this area; finally, the involvement of students from schools of all levels, according to methods to be defined with the Provincial School Office and teachers, providing for a training phase and an active phase, with direct commitment. After the institutional greetings of the Prefect Maria Luisa Inversini, of the councilor Patrizia Saccone and commander Vittorio Giovannone, the general secretary of the Port System Authority of the Eastern Ligurian Sea Federica Montaresi introduced the conference, reiterating her support for the project.
