Sanremo. Together with the councilor candidates Marco Viale And Sara Tonegutti (Sanremo al Centro), this morning the mayoral candidate of the civic coalition for Sanremo, Alessandro Mager he visited theInternational Institute of Humanitarian Law (IIHL), independent and non-commercial organization founded in 1970, where they met the President, General of the Army Corps, Giorgio Battisti.

Attracting people from 160 countries around the world including jurists, soldiers, academics, politicians, students, representatives and civil officials of various governments, but also judges, lawyers, princes and princesses, the International Institute of Humanitarian Law represents a unique reality in its genre, of great relevance for the City of Flowers; the economic impact generated by the IIHL activities from March to December can in fact be quantified in an amount exceeding 2 million euros between hotels and restaurants.

At the Humanitarian Institute, courses are held on armed conflicts, on international humanitarian law, as well as courses for immigrants, sector operators, special activities and for students on respect for human rights. The Institute, considered a neutral territory, takes care of the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of the headquarters and receives financial support from the Municipality, the Region, the Province, sponsors, the Swiss Government and the International Red Cross.

«We were asked to have easier communication with the municipal offices – explained Mager -, a question that is constantly repeated in the various meetings of recent weeks. It means that we will have to work a lot in this direction. The International Institute of Humanitarian Law is a pearl for Sanremo, which we will certainly take care of.”
