There are 798 scrutineers appointed yesterday, by drawing lots, by the municipal electoral commission chaired by the Mayor of Reggio Calabria, Giuseppe Falcomatà, for the next elections of members of the European Parliament. During yesterday’s session, in the presence of the councilors Mario Cardia, Massimiliano Merenda and Saverio Anghelone, as effective members of the commission and with the assistance of the general secretary Antonia Criaco, the commission unanimously decided to proceed with the appointment using the criterion of draw among those who, registered in the Register of scrutineers, have expressed their willingness to exercise this function, within the deadlines set out in the notice of 11 April 2024, published on the institution’s institutional website.
There are a total of 19,429 names registered in the register of scrutineers. Of these, 810 made their availability within the established deadlines. Twelve have already been appointed presidents by the Court of Appeal and have therefore been deducted from the number of scrutineers available. There are therefore 798 effective scrutineers available. The draw was carried out via computer program and a list of 798 substitute scrutineers was also prepared, again by drawing lots. Furthermore, as per the prefectural circular, an additional list of 209 names of electors available for the replacement of scrutineers, although not registered.
The names of the effective, substitute and non-registered scrutineers can be consulted, together with the location of the electoral sections, on the institutional website of the Municipality of Reggio Calabria, at the address www.reggiocal.it. Obviously, the notification of the appointment to the individual designated scrutineers, no later than the fifteenth day before the elections, by means of a notifying messenger, remains valid.
