It will be the intense “Old Fools” written in 2018 by British author Tristan Bernays the opening show of the third edition of Contemporary Plots, the theater festival organized by the Malalingua company, with the artistic direction of Marianna de Pinto and Marco Grossi. The 23 and 24 May at 9pm at the Cittadella degli Artisti in Molfetta the story of Viv and Tom, played by Marianna De Pinto and Marco Grossi, will be staged, of their love and the life they shared together, from the first spark to the last moment together.

A production of Malalingua Company directed by Silvio Peroni, an artist who has been engaged in research on the actor for years and eager to tell life on stage without making it spectacular but investigating its ordinary, delicate and imponderable complexity. Indeed “Old Fools” it is a dance without a solution of continuity, it mixes and confuses time and, starting from the first meeting, is projected, an instant later, in a vortex of memories and fragments, into the senility of the protagonists and then finds them married or on a second date, struggling with raising a child or with the desire to keep their relationship together. A simple and, therefore, highly empathetic story.

There is a day, and I believe it happens to every director, in which you begin to trust your abilities and, more importantly, you begin to trust the audience, in that moment you understand that your creative act can also be entrusted to the spectator, that the spectator also has the right to enter the theater and imagine. The author Tristan Bernays concentrates his text – as if it were a dance – on the life of Tom and Viv by making leaps in time, moving from one place to another without scenography and without fear, trusting the imagination of the spectator, who after all is to the theater also to create and not just to watch”, Silvio Peroni.

Contemporary Plots 2024 is divided into 17 appointments with many guests, co-productions and multidisciplinary synergies, regional premieres, proposals that look at international performance theatre, workshops, without forgetting the connection with the territory and with the best theatrical realities that live there.
