YOUTH BASKETBALL – The under 17 team of Le Mura Spring Lucca wins the Tuscan Cup in the category by beating Jolly Acli Livorno 51-41 in the final against Jolly Acli Livorno in Volterra. A deserved, beautiful and partly unexpected success for Chiara Tessaro’s girls as on the eve of the match the Labronica were considered the team to beat.
Jolly Livorno came from a clear path in the Tuscan Cup phase, and seemed the logical predestined to win, but found themselves faced with a compact Lucca team determined to subvert the prediction. The game was evenly balanced in the initial phase, in the second quarter the Livorno team attempted to extend the lead to 21-15 with two consecutive triples, but the Spring team calmly recovered and took the lead again at halftime at 25-27. The turning point in the third quarter when the red and whites closed the defensive ranks, doubling up on the opponents’ guns in the area and at the same time hitting on the counterattack. At the sixth minute the advantage of the Lucca team is already at +9 (28-37), to reach double figures at the eighth minute (29-39) and close the quarter at 31-39. Last quarter in control of Spring who maintain the advantage around 10 points, while the seconds pass and we just wait for the siren to certify the victory of the Lucca team. In the end it is a triumph for the entire Le Mura Spring entourage who go on to achieve a prestigious victory at youth level but which is certainly a good omen also for the new DS of the first team Imma Gentile.
