A weekend of awards and meetings, all with free entry, at Officine Social Movie, the Arezzo festival dedicated to social issues and civil commitment this year in the name of relationships. On Friday 24 May, at 10:00 am, the festival’s events will begin with the lesson-concert of the Multiethnic Orchestra of Arezzo which, for the occasion, will open the doors of Cinema Eden to the youngest spectators, those from the nursery school Nido M. Cesti of Arezzo. At 5.30 pm “The professions of cinema” will once again be protagonists with the meeting with the costume designer Teresa D’Arienzo. Graduated in Scenography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, then at the three-year Costume course at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome under the teaching of maestro Piero Tosi, D’Arienzo began her work experience by collaborating as an assistant costume designer on various cinematographic and theatrical productions signed by directors of the caliber of Franco Zeffirelli, up to international productions of films and TV series including the most recent “Ripley” by Steven Zaillian and “Those About to Die” by Roland Emmerich soon to be released. Dedicated entirely to the short films in competition, it will be on the evening of Friday 24 May, starting at 8.45pm, again with free admission, with the screening and award ceremony of the short films winners of the Best Soundtrack Award assigned by the musicians of the Multiethnic Orchestra of Arezzo and of the Libertà di Gusto Award and the screening and subsequent award ceremony of the short finalists of the Popular Jury Award. On this occasion, the audience in the theater will decide the winner, in the presence of the directors of the three finalist short films. On Saturday 25 May, at 5.30 pm, the psychologist and psychotherapist Simona Cardinaletti will present her volume entitled “The weak sex. Female weakness and violence against women” (Albatros Il Filo Group). The Pronto Donna Association – Anti-violence Center will take part in the meeting, recounting the Copernican revolution presented by Cardinaletti in talking about violence against women between known “rules” and internalized cages, the result of millennia of history, in which the difference between those who help and those who are helped, sometimes, only reside in having been lucky enough not to have met violent men. It should be kept in mind that violence against women is to date one of the main areas of Simona Cardinaletti’s work who, in addition to being responsible for the Casa Rifugio Zefiro for women victims of violence with or without minor children, works with women in the Ancona area who, despite experiencing a situation of violence, do not need to be removed from the house where they live with the abuser. At 8.45pm the new evening event will see the screening and award ceremony of the winning short films of the Relationships Award – Unicoop Firenze Arezzo Members Section and the Best Director Award as well as the screening of the docu-film “Flora” in the presence of the director Martina De Polo and the youngest partisan relay of the Italian Resistance, Flora Monti, via video link. Martina De Polo, graduated in Cinema, Television and Multimedia Production with valuable experience at the Cineteca di Bologna, will bring to the festival her passion for investigative documentaries and for the history of the Resistance narrated, in “Flora”, through the authentic voice of a girl who became a partisan relay at just twelve years old.
