The silence of Palatrincone it is interrupted only by the music of a music box playing. It’s a simple way to reassure children and those who spend the night here after one of the strongest tremors in recent years.
TO Monteruscello, a hamlet of Pozzuoli, there are families and elderly people. Someone confesses to the parish priest. The civil protection volunteers arrange the cots on which many prefer to seek some rest. Others decided to spend the night in the car, a few at home. “I decided to take advantage of this opportunity because knowing the conditions of my building it is better to opt for a night on the street rather than risk it.” A mother rocks her stroller, while she explains that here, in the sports hall she feels safer, although “who knows?”. People arrive confused, scared at one of the collection centers hastily organized by the Region, Municipality and Civil Protection.
“Already around 8pm there were two strong tremors, since we are all hyperconnected the full magnitude started”, explains a mother while listening to some music next to her two children and her elderly grandmother who are sleeping. For some, it is difficult to forget the feeling of the earth shaking beneath their feet. “I’ve never been afraid of this type of shock, explains a boy, we’ve been used to it since we were born. But this time they were really powerful.”

The power is also confirmed by the magnitude of the strongest: 4.4. People poured into the street for several hours before finding a safe place to take shelter.
“The appeal I want to make, adds a young man, is not to wait. Implement ways in order to preserve as many lives as possible. Because it is not a game, we had proof of this many years ago”. The night, for those who decided to spend it in the building, continues more or less peacefully. Even if fear, some admit, is always there: “We trust in God, what should we do? Let’s hope everything goes for the best”.
