Railways: Puglia, all the news about Trenitalia’s summer timetable

The Summer Experience enriches Puglia with new connections: in June the night Frecciarossa Milan-Lecce and the Intercity Lecce-Bolzano make their debut on the weekend.

Among the summer news, new Intercity connections Lecce/Bari-Reggio Calabria and the return of trains on the FSE Putignano-Rutigliano route.

New bus connections also to the main tourist destinations of Puglia.

The Frecciarossa and Frecciargento offer

From June, two new night-time Frecciarossa trains will run on weekends: the Milan-Lecce Frecciarossa departing from Milan Centrale at 10.45pm and stopping in Milan Rogoredo (p. 10.55pm), Parma (p. 11.41pm), Reggio Emilia (p. 11.56pm), Modena (p. 11.56pm). p. 00.11), Bologna Centrale (p. 0.35), Foggia (a. 5.17), (Barletta (a. 5.47), Bari Centrale (a. 6.24), Monopoli (a. 6.48), Fasano (a. 6.57), Ostuni (at 7.09′), Brindisi (at 7.32) and arrives in Lecce at 7.57 and the Frecciarossa Lecce-Milan departs from the Salento capital at 9.05 and stops in Brindisi (9.27), Ostuni (9.50), Fasano (22.02) , Monopoli (22.11), Bari Centrale (22.45), Barletta (23.21), Foggia (23.55), Bologna (at 5.31), Modena (at 5.58), Reggio Emilia (at 6.15), Parma (at 6.33), Milano Rogoredo (7.21am) arriving at Milano Centrale at 7.35am.

All Frecciarossa trains to and from Milan, Turin, Venice, Padua and Bologna have been confirmed, and will also make stops in Monopoli, Fasano and Ostuni in the summer.

Finally, up to 13 Frecciarossas and Frecciargento trains connecting Puglia to Rome a day, with 2 Frecciarossas extending their service northwards also offering direct connections to and from Florence.

The Intercity offer

From June the Intercity Milan-Lecce and the Intercity Bari-Milan will run every day. The Lecce-Bolzano Intercity will depart on Friday and Saturday, while the Bolzano-Lecce Intercity will run on Saturday and Sunday.

Since the time change, two Intercity trains will run every day from Reggio Calabria to Lecce and vice versa, and from July, two Intercity trains Reggio Calabria-Bari and vice versa. Summer stop in Polignano a Mare on the IC trains of the Adriatica line. All other Intercity Giorno e Notte confirmed.

The offer of the Regional Trenitalia

Over 240 regional trains every day to the main travel locations in Puglia, from Trani to Lecce, from Giovinazzo to Polignano a Mare, from Bari to Monopoli. Combined train+bus connections are also available this summer to reach tourist locations far from a train station.

Starting from June, the Monopoli beach link returns, in collaboration with Miccolis Lentini, which allows you to reach the main beaches from Monopoli to Chapter.

The links to and from Foggia have also been reactivated (Vieste link and San Giovanni Rotondo link) in collaboration with COTRAP.

The Trulli link is active all year round, with FSE, from Bari to reach the Itria Valley, Ostuni link and Brindisi Air&Portlink, in collaboration with STP Brindisi.

Train + bus connections have been renewed in the Salento area, in collaboration with Ferrovie del Sud Est. Two bus lines will depart from Lecce: the Porto Cesareo link and Otranto link and new train connections to Gallipoli.

Train connections, from June to the end of August, on the Foggia – Manfredonia line.

The offer of Ferrovie del Sud Est

The novelty of the summer is the reopening of the Bari-Putignano line (via Conversano) between Rutigliano and Putignano: 18 trains a day, in circulation from 5.00 to 22.00, with stops in Conversano and Castellana Grotte and connection with buses to Bari in Conversano.

All connections to the Itria Valley (Alberobello, Castellana Grotte, Cisternino, Locorotondo and Martina Franca), Ostuni and the marinas south of Bari (Polignano a Mare and Monopoli) have been confirmed. In Salento, connections to Porto Cesareo, Gallipoli, Otranto, San Foca, Torre dell’Orso, Tricase and Castro have been confirmed.

On the Martina-Franca – Francavilla line, 18 trains will run per day with stops in Cisternino and Ceglie Messapica. From Francavilla Fontana to Lecce the service will be guaranteed by replacement buses for infrastructure modernization works.

Train of Magna Graecia

Until August 29th, the Magna Grecia trains will run over the weekend from Taranto to Sibari and vice versa to discover the cultural and landscape beauties of the Ionian coast.
