They stole 70 thousand euros of merchandising: discovered and reported

The balance of the checks is six complaints (three for having violated the ban on overflight with drones, one against a man who tried to climb over without a ticket at Rivazza and finally two against thieves caught stealing goods worth 70 thousand euros). carried out by the state police during the weekend of the Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Autodromo. Over the three days of the event, an average of around 150 agents were employed per day, which reached a peak of 200 units during the race on Sunday.

In particular, various departments and specialties of the State Police were involved, including the first anti-terrorism intervention operational units, the anti-explosive units, the staff of the flight department, the surveillance departments and numerous territorial control crews who monitored the internal areas, as well as the external ones of the Enzo and Dino Ferrari.

Added to these are the managers and officials of the Bologna police headquarters and the Imola public safety police station, who coordinated over the three days to supervise the services of specific competence.

In the context of international police cooperation, given the international importance of the Grand Prix, specific joint services have been implemented for the protection of public safety and the prevention of crimes, with the participation of officers from other European countries, specifically Spain and Portugal .

Precisely thanks to this collaboration, three men were discovered and reported (an Englishman, a Dutchman and an Italian) responsible for having violated the overflight ban imposed by ENAC on the racetrack within a radius of three miles, using drones that are were all seized.

The activity of the police officers employed in the Autodromo area then made it possible to report three other people: a foreigner who, without a ticket, had tried to climb over the wall at the entrance to the Rivazza curve; two Italians for theft, as they had stolen numerous goods from a merchandising stand, including caps and shirts, worth around 70 thousand euros (all recovered).

“The numerous activities were coordinated with great efficiency by the joint operations room set up at the Autodromo – comment from the Bologna Police Headquarters -, which made it possible to follow all the phases of the Grand Prix, coordinating all the police forces and bodies involved, guaranteeing the without any criticality of an event of this caliber”.
