The second quarter opens with a triple from Ferraro, Fresno responds, then a triple from Chiarini, Diouf stops Nikolic, intentional to Fresno who stops Chiarini, two out of two from the line, Avellino stays in the game with a mid-range shot from Verrazzo and a basket from under Bertolin, then Loschi makes 2 of 2 from the line, Avellino doesn’t score and Pagani makes 1 of 2 and in the following action the pivot corrects to the basket for the plus 15. Last quarter, decibels at a thousand, public in ecstasy, the curve involves the whole building and it is a real show within the show, Pielle is always there, concentrated, attentive in defense, athleticism and dynamism, the Irpinia shooters cannot find shooting solutions, Laganà scores seven points following two shots from two and one from three, Avellino scores only with long shots, Chiarini and Loschi bring Pielle to at most 24, in the last minutes there is also room for Manna, Datomo and Cristofani, the latter scores a nice basket for two and there is also room for Diouf’s bomb who tries beyond the arc and he too scores and the building explodes with joy. It ends 82 to 64.
Pielle excellent, there are no adjectives, Chiarini plays 21 minutes and scores 18, Rubbini 15 points and Laganà 12 points, directing and hot hand, Loschi 12 points sought by his teammates in shooting, the captain 8 points perfect, vigorous in defense, together with Ferraro and Lo Biondo don’t allow the Irpinians any easy shots. Under the boards Diouf and Pagani fight and contain one of the best pairs of big men in the championship. What can I say, just applause and unconditional support for these guys and as the Curva chorus says “and now that we are here we want Serie A…”
Appointment now set for Friday for game three in Campania where the blue and white will try to close the series.
