The new paving of Piazza Zanardelli
The works for the contract are progressing towards completion “Restoration and conservative rehabilitation of Piazza Zanardelli – connection route of via Matera and viale Martiri – PSR 2014/2020 intervention 4.1 Gal – Terre di Murgia”.
The asphalt on the pedestrian path in Piazza Zanardelli was removed and entirely replaced with stone paving.
Furthermore, today the construction site area has been remodeled, limiting it to the stretch facing the Church of San Domenico: in order to guarantee more space for the schools, the fences that delimited part of the square have been removed. The pedestrian connection and the staircase are therefore reopened.
In recent days, 3 cedars were planted in Piazza Zanardelli, in order to restore the prevailing historical-architectural appearance of the square, and 7 elm trees in the part facing the monumental staircase in Via Matera, to compensate for the trees removed on the same street in the previous years.
The work will be completed and delivered shortly. Work will then begin in the municipal villas planned with the PNRR. Thus, the municipal administration and offices continue the substantial program of construction of new public works and maintenance of existing ones for a more livable and beautiful city.
