The University of Insubria hosts the fifteenth edition of Philosophy Festival of the Young Thinkers project: two days to reflect on the value of the restlessness of knowledge and face the complexity of the contemporary world.

«The famous Socratic motto “knowing that you do not know” – explains Fabio Minazzi, scientific director of the Insubrico International Center, the “philosophical home” of the Young Thinkers project – offers a fruitful reference model to better understand the intimate nature of our knowledge which never allows us to draw on absoluteness, since in every knowledge error is hidden and in every error knowledge is hidden”.

Three hundred students of all school levels will meet on Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd May in the Granero Porati great hall, in Varese, to share the numerous questions and profound reflections born on this year’s theme: «Philosophizing is sweet to me in this sea. The restlessness of knowledge between knowledge and loss.”

The first day of Tuesday 21 May from 9am to 1pm, curated by Stefania Barile, coordinator of the university project of the Young Thinkers, involves students from the Ferraris scientific high school, the Manzoni high schools, the Einaudi institute and the Maroni Salesian institute in Varese and the Seren” high schools in Luino, who will present their respective research and development paths in-depth analysis carried out in the historical-philosophical, educational, logical, aesthetic, scientific and social sustainability fields.

«The proposal of the Young Thinkers at the 2024 Philosophy Festival, compared to previous editions, is particularly varied – explains Stefania Bariland – is full of interesting reflections that give value to that cognitive restlessness that inhabits the daily lives of our children and which is expressed in the search for the Self and in relationships with the reality that surrounds them, be it natural or social».

The second day of Wednesday 22 May from 9am to 12pm, curated by Graziella Segatcoordinator of the «Philosophizing with children» project, will be animated by the Giovanissimi Thinkers from the San Benedetto di Voltorre, Carducci di Buguggiate, Pascoli di Comerio, Settembrini di Velate-Varese and Manzoni di Rescalda primary schools, who will communicate their wonder in the project process «Look at all the stars this evening!», created with their teachers.

«The sky, the stars, the world around us, the greatness and the mystery – explains Graziella Segat – raise questions and curiosity in the growth of humanity and man and in our work it becomes a journey through the “whys” of children from first to fifth.”

The two days of the Festival will also be available in live online events on the Microsoft Teams platform: link on the University website, www.uninsubria.it/festival-filosofia-2024
