On May 22, 2024, the Autonomous Police Union of Agrigento organized the second Memorial Day in this province. This is an event that the National SAP began to promote and organize immediately after the tragic events of the Falcone and Borsellino massacres, where the brave men of the escorts lost their lives together with the well-known magistrates.
From the beginning, the event had its epicenter in Palermo where the colleagues of that secretariat always remembered the sacrifice of our heroes of the State Police and also of all the servants of the State who were victims of Organized Crime and Terrorism. As time passed, all the provincial secretariats of the SAP began to organize events in memory of the fallen in each Italian city and this year too the SAP Provincial Secretariat of Agrigento wanted to remember and commemorate the Carabinieri Marshal “Giuliano Guazzelli”.
The event will begin at 10:00 am next Wednesday 22 May at the Palacongressi in Agrigento.
The Vicar Vice Prefect Dr. Massimo Signorelli, the Mayor of Agrigento Dr. Francesco Miccichè, the Vicar of the Quaestor of Agrigento Dr. Francesco Marino, the Provincial Commander of the Carabinieri Dr. Nicola De Tullio, the Director of the Archaeological Park of the Valley will participate in the event of the Temples Dr. Roberto Sciarratta, the Headmaster of the Anna Frank Comprehensive Institute of Agrigento Dr. Alfio Russo, the Marshal’s children: Teresa and Riccardo Guazzelli, the Deputy General Secretary Giuseppe Coco, the Regional Secretary Pietro Billitteri and the SAP Provincial Secretariat of Agrigento directed by Dr. Ferdinando Cavallaro Provincial Secretary and Deputy Regional Secretary SAP Sicily.
A school group from the Anna Frank Comprehensive Institute of the Verga complex will participate in the event and will perform a song and lyrics on the theme of the event. After the demonstration, a delegation from the SAP together with the civil and military authorities who attended will go to Marshal Guazzelli’s tombstone, where the criminal event occurred, to lay an arrangement of flowers.
