In Giancarlo Perrella’s shoulder strikes. Cus Molise had its absolute point of reference in the Bojanese javelin thrower, son of an artist in the Nuova Atletica Isernia, in what was the second of the two days dedicated to athletics at the national university championships hosted in Molise. Student of the course of studies in medical radiology technique at Unimol, Perrella – who had the best credit performance (67.99 metres) – in an X-ray analyzed test he threw the javelin at altitude 62.51 meters, then to 64.66 before a null. In the three final throws, then, three tests arrived – under an annoying rain – at 59.66, 55.29 and 63.20 meters on the last throw, his second best measurement.
«It went quite well – the analysis of the person concerned – because I had good feelings. The rain could have had an impact, but I had no problems.”
As for the relationship between sport and study, he adds: «It’s not simple, you need organization. But sport gives method and the desire to try to do everything.”
«It was a great satisfaction – adds his father (and his coach) Gianluca – even if some launches were a little torn because they could have reached even further. Now we will try to do even better in the next races. He has a staff of sixty-eight metres, but we hope to reach seventy in 2024.”
In this same test, however, Alessio Colarusso was also present, a member of the Polisportiva Molise who finished seventh with a best throw (the sixth of the six) at 51.97 metres. The remaining performances of the second day did not bring huge smiles to the University team. In the 5,000, involved in the second series, Douglas Scarlato did not finish his race, although he is a specialist in the fast middle distance (800 and 1,500), strangely engaged in this circumstance in the prolonged middle distance. In the 200 Lorenzo Tecce was thirty-fourth, finishing sixth in the sixth series run in the sixth lane with a time of 24″41. Finally, in the hammer, the Cus Molise standard-bearer in the inauguration ceremony Asia Alonzi finished outside the eight with a twelfth final position and a best throw (the first) at 35.14 metres.
