VITTORIO MASSI (pres. Samb): «We showed that we had a strong team that could fight for the championship all the way. Bad luck has haunted us throughout the championship: a last-minute own goal is yet another proof of this. We would have liked to celebrate, but it didn’t happen that way. In any case, I have to give a big applause to these wonderful fans who have followed us and supported us constantly throughout the season. The team is strong and it showed, then we were also victims of less than positive refereeing.
What would I change for next season? I wouldn’t repeat some personal mistakes, but we’ve already started to notice for fifteen days which mistakes didn’t allow us to do the ride that Campobasso did. What errors? I spoke too much and, therefore, next year there will be a general manager who will speak in my place. I will stay on the sidelines. We lost the championship alone. The choice of the next coach? My veto is decisive. As for the players, I only told the sporting director that I wanted to choose just one player. Which? We’ve seen a lot of them this season. Samb and L’Aquila fought it out to the end and we had proof of this in this final. Names of players and directors? I still have to digest the disappointment of losing this play-off final and, therefore, this is not the time to talk about possible new faces.
What I can say is that we will build a Samb to win the championship. This championship was fantastic until the end. How many players will stay here? If we don’t keep them there will be teams queuing up to get them, especially the unders. If a player has been chosen to play for the Samb, then it means that it is a strong profile».
