“Edison Next Italian Offshore Sailing Championship”, presentation today

BRINDISI – The press conference to present the “Edison Next” Italian Offshore Sailing Championship which will take place in Brindisi from 24 to 29 June 2024 took place this morning in the “Gino Strada” Hall of Palazzo Nervegna, in Brindisi.
Present at the event, moderated by the journalist Antonio Celeste, were the President of the Italian Sailing Federation Francesco Ettore, the President of the Brindisi Sailing Club (organizer of the event) Gaetano Caso, the Mayor of Brindisi Giuseppe Marchionna, the President of the Southern Adriatic Port System Ugo Patroni Griffi, L’Avv. Francesco Mastro for the Puglia Region, the Deputy Vice President of the Brindisi/Taranto Chamber of Commerce Franco Gentile and other civil, military and sporting authorities.
The Italian Offshore Sailing Championship “Edison Next” is one of the most important sailing events taking place in 2024 at a national level and in which cabin boats between 9 and 16 meters, of Italian nationality, in possession of a valid certificate of ORC International tonnage.
The regattas will take place in the waters north of the port of Brindisi from 26 to 29 June 2024 and will take place on technical windward-leeward courses whose length will be as per the regulations for offshore sailing 2024.
“The Brindisi Sailing Club – stated President Caso – is making great organizational efforts to create the ideal conditions required for a sailing event of such importance. Hundreds of sailors and their companions will be present in the city on those days and it is no coincidence that it was necessary to block adequate hotel availability in time. All this was possible thanks to the support of the Puglia Region, the Municipality of Brindisi, other local authorities and private sponsors”.
“We have never had any doubts about the great attachment of the city of Brindisi to the sport of sailing – stated the President of the Fiv Ettorre – but the next Italian offshore sailing championship is also demonstrating the great organizational capacity of the Sailing Club which has I strongly wanted this event to take place in Brindisi.”
Mayor Marchionna, the lawyer. Mastro for the Puglia Region, the President of the port body Patroni Griffi and the vice President of the chamber of commerce Franco Gentile, however, underlined the great potential of a city like Brindisi which looks to its sea with ever greater interest.
The Italian Championship has Fiv as title sponsor “Edison Next”, while the official sponsors of the Sailing Club are “Intesa San Paolo” and “Consorzio Build”.
