Manfredonia. “The images of the fountains at the Church of Sant’Andrea are a real punch in the stomach”

The images of the fountains at the Church of Sant’Andrea are a real punch in the stomach. Full of waste and very dirty, they represent a shame for our city. We are in the midst of an election campaign and reporting these situations may seem opportunistic, but we risk reaching a point of no return if we don’t start reacting immediately. It is true that in Manfredonia there is a prefectural commissioner, but this does not mean that everything is fine. Indeed, we must always have the courage to report what doesn’t work. We cannot afford to close our eyes to such evident scenes of degradation, because the decorum of the city is not just an aesthetic question, but one of respect for the citizens and tourists who visit us.

With the arrival of the beautiful days, that area in front of the tourist port becomes an important business card for Manfredonia. Furthermore, many children play in that area and families gather. Not to mention the defacement of the historic Piscitelli fountain and Franco Tretola’s mosaics. It is unthinkable that a place of such importance could be left in these conditions.

An urgent intervention is needed to clean up the fountains and restore dignity to one of the most characteristic points of the city. We can no longer tolerate this situation. We strongly ask that the competent authorities act immediately to guarantee the decorum and cleanliness that our city deserves.

Let’s not let these images of degradation become the norm. Manfredonia can and must offer more, for its citizens and visitors. And not because we are in an election campaign: the change can start now. Change can start with each of us.
