Rimini, 480 new trees planted

In the Rimini area, all the planned interventions for the planting of new trees were completed last April. A planning, designed like every year, across the entire territory, for the winter of 2023-2024.

The plantings took place in compliance with the environmental guidelines prepared by the Administration and following the needs that also emerged from the discussions with the environmental associations. An effective sharing that has allowed – through the interventions implemented by the Anthea company – to plant a total of 480 new trees. Not only by integrating the missing trees along the avenues, but also by increasing the number of plants present in the green areas.

The affected areas

In fact, the interventions, which made it possible to increase the tree heritage of the city, concerned numerous avenues of the city, including: Regina Elena, Regina Margherita, Clementini, Crispi, Dei Mille, Lagrangia, Dell’Abete, Ceccaroni, Zangheri, Maestri Del Work, Rosmini and Syracuse.

Among the public areas and green spaces, the plantings took place in the parks: XXV Aprile (Marecchia), Marcovaldo, Giovanni Paolo II (ex Cava), Via Perlasca, Pellesi, Cerni kennel area, in the vicinity of the Scout bridge and in the new section of the Sea Park.

There were different species of plants, chosen in compliance with the current green regulation and also taking into account the ongoing climate changes. In particular, the choice of arboreal material fell on first nursery choices with characteristics suitable for the city context of Rimini. A selection aimed at improving the environment and providing the ecosystem services necessary for environmental mitigation and the improvement of urban comfort. Among the plants chosen are: Tilia platyphyllos, Quercus robur, Ginkgo biloba, Acer pseudoplatanus, Quercus ilex, Fraxinus angustifolia, Pyrus calleryana, Carpinus betulus, Ligustrum lucidum, Cupressus sempervirens, Pinus pinea.

The 60 trees planted as part of the initiative are also included in the planned planning “Give a tree to your city”. A project whose 2023-24 edition concluded in recent days with the delivery of certificates of thanks. The initiative has received good feedback from citizens and will also be repeated for the winter of 2024-2025. All citizens, companies or associations who want to actively contribute to increasing the greenery of the city and improving the urban space can join the project.
