Chamois Events in Valle d’Aosta

Set among the rocks, at 1815 meters above sea level, along the orographic left of Valtournenche, Chamois, one of the highest municipalities in Europe, is also a village characterized by a rhythm of life marked by nature and slow tourism, in search of peace and harmony. Connected to the valley floor with a cable car inaugurated in 1955, the population of Chamois, which today numbers less than 100 souls, has a strong vocation for welcoming tourists.

This is why, in addition to enhancing and promoting the countless hiking routes and various sporting activities that can be practiced here, Chamois summer offers a rich program of eventssuitable for those who want to transform their holiday into an enriching and engaging experience.

Far from traffic, surrounded by greenery, here the practice of sport is an evidence that is often expressed with healthy competitiveness. In May, two events demonstrate this spontaneous passion: on Saturday 11 May, the K+, the fourth edition of the foot race with a route from Antey-Saint-André to Chamois, takes place, while on the weekend of 18 and 19 May, the first edition of a 24-hour running race, to be held starting from the hamlet of Buisson in the municipality of Antey-Saint-André and arriving at Lake Lod, in the Chamois area.

But summer brings with it much more. First, moments of music. It begins to JuneSaturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd, with the review Musically, which for some years has brought listeners closer to the world of disability through the universal language of instruments and voices. An accordion concert will take place on the 14th and from 19 to 21 July, it continues with the CHAMOISic Festival, international jazz music festival and experimental, now in its fifteenth edition. Another musical event not to be missed for fans is undoubtedly the Alt(r)i Listening Festivalfrom 9 to 11 August, a particular event, where sound and nature dialogue freely and in unexpected ways.

Also art and craftsmanship find their place among the events organized in Chamois. A sculpture symposium, an artisans’ atelier with a consequent exhibition of Aosta Valley craftsmanship and an art exhibition entitled “Light and colour” will enrich the cultural offer of the month of July. To Augustin addition to two painting exhibitions, the artistic proposal will enhance ceramics, showing its production techniques.

The last Sunday of Julyas per tradition, will take place Patronal Feast of San Pantaleone, with a market exhibition and performance by the Saint-Vincent musical band that will brighten up the day. A somewhat special drive-in, given that there are no cars circulating in Chamois, adds to the cultural offer: a series of evenings dedicated to cinema which begins with screenings of the Aiace festival and the award-winning films of the Cervino Cinemountain festival, from 29 July to August 2nd. Thanks to the contribution of some volunteers who love tradition, in conjunction with the main events, it will be possible to taste and purchase products cooked at the Corgnolaz bakery.

A range of events which also offers two theater pieces, the practice of yoga, workshops for children, a “magical” August holiday and, to end the summer with gusto, the event “The taste of a walk” will take place on 1st September ”, a food and wine journey to discover local flavors and Aosta Valley excellence along the panoramic walk that connects the municipality of La Magdeleine to Chamois. Emotions, culture, sport and quality time are the secret of a perfect holiday, away from worries and in contact with the nature and spirituality of these places.
