FAI celebrates World Biodiversity Day with special events in Basilicata

Meetings and excursions to discover and enhance Lucania’s natural heritage

To celebrate World Biodiversity Day, the FAI – Italian Environment Fund, has planned a series of initiatives on 18/19 and 25/26 May in various locations in Basilicata. These events are part of a broader campaign that the FAI conducts to raise public awareness on the issues of the climate crisis, biodiversity, land and water consumption, actively involving the community in protecting the environment.

The meetings will take place in particular at the FAI assets and will include nature walks, direct observation of the territory and dialogues with experts. These activities aim to provide participants with a deeper understanding of local environmental dynamics and their impact on daily life.

The project, also financed with funds from the 8×1000 of the Waldensian Church, demonstrates a concrete commitment to promoting sustainable practices. Among the planned initiatives there are also measurements of the carbon and water footprints of FAI assets, the adoption of renewable energy sources, the recovery of rainwater and the efficiency of water consumption.

In Basilicata, the activities organized by FAI will focus on six different proposals that explore regional biodiversity. The events will be enriched by the presence of FAI delegations and local groups, who will contribute to an engaging and informative narrative, supported by the presence of experts and specialists in the environmental sector.

For more information on individual events and to participate, you can visit the FAI website dedicated to environmental campaigns: www.ambientefai.it.
