Crash in Cava, Gianluca dies at 36: Salerno in tears

Coming home from a party a Nocera turned into a tragedy for Gianluca Chiaiese: the 36-year-old physical therapist of Salerno lost his life after a fatal car accident in Cava de’ Tirreni. The crash occurred a few minutes before 1.30 last night: the young man was riding his scooter when on Via XXV Luglio, at the intersection with the via Pasquale Santoriello, he met his death. For reasons yet to be ascertained, Chiaiese lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the traffic island close to the roundabout. The physiotherapist from Salerno was thrown into the lane opposite to his direction of travel and the scooter, after tearing up a road sign, remained in the right lane.

The reconstruction

No other vehicles were involved in the accident. Rescuers arrived on site within minutes: the 118 health workers could not help but confirm the death of the 36-year-old from Salerno. The findings and reconstruction of the dynamics of the accident were entrusted to the officers of the Cava de’ Tirreni police station, led by deputy commissioner Gianluca Perillo. Chiaiese’s body was already transported during the night to the morgue of theUmberto I Hospital of Nocera Inferiore where it remained at the disposal of the judicial authorities: the magistrate in charge of the investigations, already in the early afternoon of yesterday, freed the body which was transferred to a facility in Salerno where the funeral home was set up. Already this afternoon, at 5.30 pm, the funeral will be celebrated in the parish of Jesus the Redeemerin the neighborhood Europe.
