Bologna, poisoned coffee at the 118 station: who ends up under arrest

He is under house arrest onnurse former coordinator accused a Bologna of having administered substances by diluting them in drinks to his colleagues at the 118 operations center causing widespread discomfort. The man will have to answer for persecutory acts And aggravated personal injury. Investigations continue to understand the reasons that led the suspect to contaminate with antipsychotics the staff coffees and drinks.

The facts date back to the months of July, August and September 2023 when several showed symptoms of prolonged drowsinessbalance disorders, tiredness, heachache, speaking difficulties and more. Some of them were even sent to the emergency room where a subsequent hospitalization followed Stroke Unitlike ischemic attacks. The first investigations excluded that the illnesses could be linked to environmental factors due to harmful substances possibly present in the aeration and/or water system and highlighted, instead, that in almost all cases the plant operators had felt ill after ingesting a coffee from the Central vending machine or other drinks/food left unattended in those rooms.

Blood tests from one of the intoxicated subjects showed the presence of clotiapine (antipsychotic), a substance never voluntarily taken by the person concerned. It was thus ascertained that the illnesses had always occurred after ingesting drinks or food and the declarations of the offended parties highlighted the presence of the arrested person during various episodes of intoxication. Further investigations also revealed that he had, without any justification, the availability of an active medicinal product anxiolytic/sedative whose active ingredient had been found in biological samples taken from one of the intoxicated operators. Medicine, which he himself told colleagues and friends that he had used to calm his own dog as it disturbed the neighbors. During the course of the investigations, the accused also carried out conduct, a note explains, “aimed at removing the strong suspicions that had developed against him, throughautointoxication with a medicinal product having an active ingredient belonging to the class of benzodiazepinesan anonymous letter which could suggest that someone had some grudge against him and the reported attack by two undescribed individuals who stole a necklace and a mobile phone from him, causing stab wounds”.

“We hope that this bad story is behind us and we look to the future with more confidence”, comments the general director ofAusl from Bologna, Paolo Bordon, regarding the house arrest of the former nursing coordinator. “We will follow the legal proceedings and also possibly take action as a healthcare company, we will protect the company’s image.” The priority is to recreate a climate of full trust within the plant Emilia East: “We are not fully operational yet – admits Bordon – but great steps forward have been made; there is an open dialogue with the operators, we hear outbursts and criticisms, then there are the professionals in the sector, psychologists who help a situation that is rightly experienced badly”.
