9 year old boy – A thirty-year-old Albanian, often drunk due to alcohol abuse, he was arrested after beating his wife while intoxicated. The couple’s nine-year-old son called the Carabinieri for help.
The hero of this sad episode, a thirty-year-old man of Albanian origin used to abuse alcoholic substances, which often led him to be in a state of inebriation. This state combined with obsessive jealousy and a maniacal desire to control his partner led to continued physical and psychological abuse of his wife, even when their nine-year-old son was present.
The two spouses, both from Nationality Albanian, they had moved to Foligno some time ago. The man had repeatedly prevented his wife from leaving the house alone, forbidding her from seeing her sisters and her friends. He insulted and denigrated her in every way possible, even going so far as to threaten her with death. This behavior subjected her to continuous psychological violence, to which she did not react for fear of suffering further physical aggression. The man went wild especially when he returned home after abusing alcohol, inflicting gratuitous violence on his wife.
Over the past summer, the man had grabbed her by the neck on one occasion and punched and kicked her on another, just because he didn’t approve of her clothing. Recently, due to her obsession with jealousy and his disappointment for his wife’s choice to look for a job, he had violently beaten her when she returned home after a job interview. This episode of violence occurred in the presence of their minor son. The man had kicked and punched her, pulled her, grabbed her by the neck and pulled her hair, dragging her through the house.
The nine year old son, helpless faced with his father’s violence, he decided to call the Single Emergency Number (NUE 112) to ask for help from the Carabinieri of the Foligno Command. Fortunately, the Carabinieri intervened promptly and put a stop to the abuse. The woman, who finally found the courage to report her husband for the constant violence and harassment she suffered, suffered injuries that will take 21 days to heal.
In order to guarantee the safety of the young mother and her child, the Judge for the Preliminary Investigations of the Court of Spoleto, on request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, issued a restraining order against her husband. The man was removed from the family home and was forbidden to have any kind of contact with his wife and son, as well as to go near the places they frequented. He must maintain a distance of at least 500 meters and his movements will be monitored through the application of an electronic bracelet.
In conclusion, this sad episode of domestic violence had a positive outcome thanks to the courageous gesture of her nine-year-old son, who called the Carabinieri to protect his mother from his father’s violence. Now the woman and her son can finally live away from a dangerous environment, thanks to the intervention of the competent authorities.
