FOR THE MOUNTAINS 10.7 MILLION
10 million and 700 thousand euros allocated for the mountains: the Third Commission expressed a majority opinion in favor of the Council’s resolution proposal for the distribution of the Regional Fund, in implementation of the law for the protection, valorisation and development of the mountains. The resources made available to the mountain territories of Piedmont, as illustrated by the competent councilor, for 2024 amount to 10.7 million and are divided among the Mountain Unions in this way: 60%, – which will be divided proportionally to the resident population and the surface area – as a contribution to operating costs; a third of these resources will be allocated to the implementation of the annual programme; 30% as a contribution to the expenditure for the employees of the Mountain Unions who carry out the delegated regional functions, while 10% is intended for the financing of interventions functional to the development and promotion of the mountains, implemented by the Mountain Unions or by other subjects and associations . The Regional Mountain Fund – as was reiterated in the Commission – is strategic to enhance, thanks to the action of the Mountain Unions on the territory, the specificities of our mountains and promote their social and economic development. The so-called “high lands” must become attractive again and, with a shared commitment on the part of the institutions, be the protagonists of a new phase of relaunch.
