“A great underpass to mend the city”

Create an underpass that connects the existing roundabout on the southern side of the railway line, between viale Monte Kosica, viale Montecuccoli, viale Fontanelli, to the roundabout on the northern side of the railway line, between via Rita Levi Montalcini, via Maria Montessori and Via Pico della Mirandola. It is the most important proposal of the study ‘Resewing the city – to reconnect the Sacca and the northern area to the city’ developed by Modena volta pagina, Possibile and Unione Popolare led by candidate Claudio Tonelli. “This connection does not present particular difficulties, as sufficient space is available for the ramps leading to the underpass level (located approximately 5.50 – 6.00 meters from the ground level); the only significant intervention is the deviation of the terminal section of Via Pico della Mirandola, in order to go over the ramp that will connect to the North roundabout”. This new underpass, “located halfway between the Mazzoni and Cialdini railway overpasses, “will also allow an efficient connection between the historic city and the Sacca area – affected in the coming years by notable increases in housing and tertiary sectors (Esselunga area, ex Corni area, etc.)”.
