The problems of the world of cooperation are on the table

The territorial president of Confcooperative Ragusa, Luca Campisi, accompanied by the managing director Nello Aprile and the area manager Emanuele Lo Presti, participated in the work of the 42nd national assembly held in Rome in recent days. The Sicilian delegation was led by regional president Gaetano Mancini. “Work, future and community” was the underlying theme of the work with the participation of 800 delegates (in the photo above from the left Lo Presti, Aprile and Campisi). “There were – says President Campisi – two days of discussion during which we discussed the aspects of economic and social life that are most important to the cooperators. Starting from work, with our country affected by an unprecedented paradox: the number of employed people is growing, reaching almost 24 million but the inactive are over 12.3 million, i.e. 1/3 of the active population. There are over 2,100,000 NEETs. In March, companies looked for over 400 thousand professional figures but found half of them. However, companies are not only burdened by the search for unobtainable professional figures. Even the continuous rate increases have made access to credit one of the problems most felt by Italian companies”. During the two-day meeting, Confcooperative had the opportunity to meet with the government, which was asked to fight together against false cooperatives and all false companies, of every legal form, which exploit millions of workers. Then there remains the age-old issue of public administration debts.
“Our cooperatives, as emerged at the meeting – adds Campisi – boast credits of 2.5 billion euros with average payments lasting 92 days and peaks of even a year in Sicily. Italian companies cannot continue to act as banks for the public administration. It is clear that this is a serious problem that risks undermining the future. As a local office, we have fully expressed our desire to have an impact on the reasoning that has been developed during these two days.
