Separate waste collection, Ancona exceeds 65% for the first time. A historic result for the regional capital achieved in 2023, despite its size, its orographic and settlement conformation and the number of citizens who, in addition to residents, see a significant share of the city’s city users every day. The other municipalities managed by AnconAmbiente, Fabriano, Sassoferrato, Cerreto d’Esi and Serra de’ Conti, did very well and, again in 2023 according to the data released yesterday, achieved excellent percentages. Management which from next year could extend to all municipalities in the provincial territory if the project to entrust the waste cycle to an ‘in house’ public company is successful. Gitto confirmed the good overall result of AnconAmbiente’s 2023 budget with a profit of over 786 thousand euros, more or less equal to the sum withdrawn by the Municipality of Ancona, which controls 90% of the company, to finance the first budget change of 2024 with 714 thousand euros: “Our company continues to make profits, it also happened in 2021 and 2022 after Covid and with the increase in the cost of energy”. Also at the meeting there was the councilor responsible for relations with the subsidiary, Stefano Tombolini, who did not confirm whether for the next change, scheduled for May, the municipal administration will withdraw part of AnconAmbiente’s reserves (in will take 600 thousand from VivaServizi). Returning to waste separation, Ancona has followed a path of constant growth over the last 7 years which from 2017 (55.6%) to today has allowed it to increase the value by approximately 10 points. The regional capital, with 65.27% of separate waste collection in 2023, complies with national standards. A goal that Cerreto d’Esi, Fabriano, Sassoferrato and Serra De’ Conti have achieved some time ago and which they will confirm again in 2023. Specifically, Cerreto d’Esi reaches 78.36%, Fabriano at 72.46%, Sassoferrato at 77.78% and Serra De Conti at 78.18%.
